Mackeson Stout

Owned by Interbrew, the same English company that makes Whitbread Ale, Mackeson Stout is one of the few surviving examples of an old southern English style of sweet stout. It pours dark brown, near black, with a lacy, cream-colored head. It is thick, sweet, slightly roasty and creamy with a licorice finish. While it will not be to everyone's taste, if you have a fascination for dark sweetish beers, especially those that manage to pack a lot of complex flavor, you should crack open a bottle of this one.
