Easy Wine & Cheese

In her 2003 Page-A-Day Calendar, Karen MacNeil recommends a great idea for hosting a quick and easy wine and cheese. You’ll need:
-4 cheeses: a goat cheese, a Parmigiano-Reggiano, a blue cheese and a creamy cheese like Brie
-4 wines: One of each of the following:
Sparkling wine (LW picks: Roederer Anderson Valley or Domain St. Michelle)
Sauvignon Blanc (LW picks: Mason S. Blanc or Noblio Sauvignon Blanc)
Cabernet Sauvignon (LW picks: Gallo ’97 Barelli Cabernet or Rabbit Ridge )
Zinfandel (LW picks: (Renwood Sierra Series Zin or Fife Vineyards Redhead)
-Paper & Pencils

Here’s how it works. Start with one cheese. Taste that cheese with each of the wines and assign each pairing a score, best to worst. Continue tasting each cheese with all wines, and when everyone’s finished compare notes. By the end, you’ll all be in fine spirits and a little wiser for the experience.
