In our efforts to spice things up a bit, we are introducing 10 NEW wines this summer, in our Wine of the Week program, to help keep everyone out of a summer rut. Wines that are fun and exciting. Wines with outstanding price, wines that will help turn your summer into a summer fiesta! So come by today and try new wines from Argentina, France, South Africa and, of course, California.

June 17 – 23

Los Cardos Chardonnay (New) • Argentina
More than 3200 feet above sea level, grapes for this Argentinean Chardonnay enjoy a permanent fresh mountain breeze which descend from the Andes. On the palate the wine is large and consistent, with a great range of flavors, leaving a very pleasant finish. The very subtle note of toast and vanilla coming from brief contact with French oak adds to the complexity of the wine.

Los Cardos Malbec (Also New) • Argentina
This wine of great varietal character stands out for its elegance and complex aromatic expression, reflecting the typical characteristics of an Argentine Malbec wine. On the nose it opens with notes of red berries and plum, intermixed with agreeable notes of spice, black pepper, mint, and graphite. On the palate the wine is soft and fresh, full-bodied and very delightful, which reflects the slow maturity of the grapes and a careful management of the winemaking process.

June 24 – 30

Lasira (New) • France
This is the first release of this wine! As the label states, this is a blend of 75% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 0% Cork. This wine is from the Perrin family, southern Rhone experts and producers of Chateau de Beaucastel. This red is young and grapey, featuring bright bouncy fruit accented by peppery spice. Shows firm tannins on the finish. Perfect with all summertime entertaining. Oh, and yes, that's a screw cap.

Domaine De Pouy (Obviously New) • France
Yves Grassa, the proprietor of Domaine de Pouy,, has invested intelligently in modern vinificication, equipment in order to assure that this exuberant, super aromatic, light bodied dry white is the standard to which others are held. Made from 80% Ugni Blanc and 20% Columbard, this wine has a penetrating floral green apple fragrance, and is loaded with refreshingly crisp and flavorful fruit. A very good value and above all – is simply delicious.

July 1 – 7

Aquinas Chardonnay (New) • California
This Chardonnay has been assembled from selected cold climate vineyards within the Napa Valley. The grapes were picked cool and barrel fermented in seasoned French oak and has undergone partial malolactic fermentation. Palate flavors of brown sugar, orange blossom and Bartlett pear. Medium bodied, this wine finishes with ripe apricot flavors.

Aquinas Cabernet Sauvignon (Very New) • California
Cabernet is synonymous with the Napa Valley. The flavor, structure, complexity and longevity of the Cabernet grape is what makes it so popular. This is a serious wine, medium brick red in color with aromas of vanilla cedar and allspice. The very forward and extracted fruit flavors of mountain cherry, cassis and tobacco gives an elegant finish which integrates the French oak profile.

July 8 – 14

Vina Antigua (New) • Argentina
Hand Picked Selections brings us this value-priced blend of Sangiovese and Bonardo from Argentina's Maipu district. It offers spicy cherry fruit with good ripeness, nice notes of earth and spice and a dusty dry, chewy character. This super value is perfect as an everyday red for pizza, pasta, burgers, or whatever.

Santa Julia Torrontes (Yes, it's New) • Mendoza, Argentina
Torrontes is the white grape that is most identified with Argentina and represents its greatest potential because of its amazing aromas, crisp lightness and individualism. It is unique and very likable. Santa Julia Torrontes has a fragrant, floral nose with fresh, ripe Muscat and Ge-wurz-like aromas. Overall it is a nicely balanced wine with a clean finish.

July 15 – 21

One.6 Chardonnay (by Fetzer) (Also New) • California (Low Carb)
The name One.6 Chardonnay communicates the carb count of the wine per five ounce serving. This Chardonnay is a result of careful grape selection, dry fermentation and specific blending to maximize the grapes full flavor and produce a consistent low-carb count. This white offers rich aromas and flavors of melon and citrus.

One.9 Merlot (by Fetzer) (New) • California (Low Carb)

The wine is analyzed along the way to ensure that they always deliver on both great taste and the lower carb promise. This Merlot is medium-bodied with bright blueberry aromas and smooth spicy flavors with hints of blackberry and cherry fruit.

July 22 – 28

Red Truck (Fairly New) • California
The bulk of the blend for this wine is engineered with Mourvedre and Syrah from the sun drenched sandy soiled vineyards in Contra Costa County. In addition, Merlot and Pinot Noir add both flavor and body to this super-value red. This wine is full of red cherries, blueberries and delicious chocolate flavors. You can drink red truck any where anytime, it pairs well with pizza and tomato based dishes.

Goats do Roam White (More New Wine) • South Africa
A blend of 45% Grenahce Blanc, 38% Claireette Blanc, 10% Muscat Frontignac and 7% Viognier, this is a totally unique white wine. A full bodied, unwooded wine shows considerable character of intense peach, lemon grass, and ripe grape. Aromas carry through onto the palate. This South African White has a rich and fruity mid palate with a soft crisp finish.
